VPN by countryThe best VPN for Thailand
Thailand generally has open internet, though certain sites have been temporarily restricted around sensitive political moments in the past. On the road, a VPN is mainly useful for safe browsing on shared wifi at hostels and beach bars.
Practical tips
- Wifi at hostels and beach bars is popular with backpackers but often unsecured, use a VPN for banking
- A VPN with a server in your home country keeps your own streaming services accessible while island-hopping
- Around politically sensitive moments, temporary restrictions on certain sites have happened in the past, a VPN can help but isn't a guarantee
